Meet
Destiny Bethune

My Story

My name is Destiny Bethune. I am 26 years old. I have two children, Destin, age 4 and Sophie, age 6. They are my little helping hands in growing our business together. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. I graduated from THE Grambling State University in May of 2019. While attending college, I worked in Mental Health with youth at the Children’s Methodist Home of Ruston, Louisiana. In January of 2021, I got all that I hoped for, so I thought, and started my law enforcement career. It was a great experience, but I realized that this world needs my heart and it’s too big to be caged inside of a correctional facility in a small city such as Shreveport. I started with this, so you can now have an open heart with being trustworthy with me and my business.

Now, let’s talk about what you’re really here for. I started swimming at age 2. At age 5, I started taking swimming lessons from my kindergarten P.E. Teacher, Ms. Helen Killen. She taught them from her backyard. She got me to a very advanced point. My parents helped me climb the ladder. They enrolled me into the swim school at age 7, where I then started to learn all of the strokes to swimming. By age 8, I was competing. YES! Competing, until I was about 13. I started allowing childhood traumas to distract me, but I still knew that I wanted to swim or do something dealing with it. Sweet Sixteen? I’m finally old enough to get a job! What was my first job you must ask? Lifeguard of course. My very first day of work, my manager asked if I would teach 6 kids, ages 6-8, swimming lessons. In my head, I was thinking “ Nobody has trained me. Why are you asking me?” But my mom has always taught me to be respectful in all that I do, so instead I took the offer. I fell in love with it immediately, and they fell in love with me! One of my students gifted me a piggy bank that year (2013) it was a pig in wearing a lifeguard uniform. I still have it to this day.

During 2020, I lost every job that I had, and struggled very hard to get one. I was forced to do the only thing I knew how to, and that was swim. Destined to Swim was established and built upon pure faith. (Hebrews 11:1) God showed me what my gift was. God showed me that I need to be blessing others with knowledge, that can save them or save someone else. God showed me what I was placed here for. I wasn’t listening at the time. Still being disobedient, trying to do what “I” want to do, and it did nothing but detour me right back to the starting point of when God told me to take the first step. God doesn’t give you a vision or an imagination for no reason. He is showing you previews of your own life.

I hope that you have now built up a trust within my business.

I shall leave you with my quote;

“Swimming is where I can save the most people.

Swimming is where I can help the most people.

Swimming is where I smile. Swimming is where I feel free.

I want others to feel like me.

I want others to be free.

Swimming has always been peace. Swimming has always been the place to be.

Swimming has always been my therapy. “
